Sure, if you fell down a hill, you’d roll head over heels, but this term also stands for the feeling you get when you are falling deeply, madly in love with someone. You may feel like you’re on an emotional roller coaster when you first meet someone that you really like, as the new relationship sends all sorts of endorphins and bodily chemicals rushing throughout your body. That’s what head over heels refers to – the heart drops and rises that come with falling in love with somebody new. Sometimes when we’re in this state, we do silly things that we wouldn’t normally do like skip work to take a new love interest out to lunch or stay out late just to spend more time with your new love.
